Downtown Burbank Car Classic to Feature World's Most Spectacular Celebrity Vehicles

Burbank CA, Jul 17 2013 - The world’s most spectacular celebrity vehicles will cruise into Downtown Burbank for the 2nd annual Car Classic on Saturday, July 27 from 3:00 to 9:00 pm. The Downtown Burbank Car Classic is free and open to the public.

The show will feature an entire city block devoted to famous film, TV and celebrity cars, and 200 more pre-1974 exotics and hot rods spread over four Downtown blocks. A Lifetime Achievement Award will be presented to George Barris, the original King of Kustomizers and legendary creator of the most famous custom-made cars ever made. Rounding off the entertainment will be KCRW DJ Anthony Valadez spinning music, and automotive-related vendor booths.

The Red Carpet area will focus exclusively on Hollywood and celebrity vehicles including the 1971 De Tomaso Pantera owned by Elvis Presley, the “Greased Lighting” 1946 Ford from the movie musical Grease (1978), and the 2001 Honda S2000 driven in 2 Fast 2 Furious (2003), all courtesy of the Petersen Automotive Museum.

Warner Bros. Studios will display the Batman Tumbler from the Christopher Nolan Batman trilogy Batman Begins, The Dark Knight and The Dark Knight Rises, the General Lee as seen in the original The Dukes of Hazzard TV series and 2005 movie of the same name, and the Scooby Doo Mystery Machine from Scooby-Doo (2002) and Scooby-Doo 2: Monsters Unleashed (2004). The original 1966 TV Batmobile designed by George Barris will be there along with the 1965 Lincoln Continental Convertible seen on HBO’s Entourage, a 1974 Ford Gran Torino Starsky & Hutch car, and many more.

The Car Classic will be held on four city blocks packed with retail, restaurants and eateries, and will integrate top automotive design with the upbeat vibe of Burbank’s legendary downtown shopping district along San Fernando Boulevard between Magnolia Boulevard and Olive Avenue.
