Vancouver International Auto Show 2019 Motormouth: Hit The Switch

Vancouver BC, March 19-24 2019 - Zack Spencer has chosen his brand name wisely. While motormouth was meant to describe someone who talks non-stop (not always a good thing), we don't mind that Motormouth can talk intelligently all day long about all things automobile. We caught up with Zack at the Vancouver Convention Center opening day of the 2019 Vancouver International Auto Show, after his recent trip to the Geneva International Auto Show.

Zack pointed out that the number one market in the world for supercars is - Vancouver. There is a lot of money here and people like to enjoy exotic cars. At Geneva, the announcement trend was almost all about alternative fuel vehicles. There are all kinds of logistical issues with introducing new fuel types - infrastructure being most important.

"There is so much emphasis moving toward electrification. All roads to electric: how we get there and how many people adopt it is still a question mark. 99% of all the cars in the world are still internal combustion engines. We've still got a long way to go."

Host Fred Keating asked Zack how the show has transitioned to make a difference:

"There is no Auto Show in the world that can touch the Vancouver International Auto Show for scenery. And when you think to yourself, why does that matter? Well, it's a day out for people - they get to come down here; they can walk around; look out, see the view, go for lunch, and come to the Auto Show. It is a fantastic facility and we are blessed to have it."

Zack has been in radio and TV for decades. Along the way, he took note of automotive journalist reviewers getting to bring home all kinds of new cars, so positioned himself to do the same in the early 90s.
