Vancouver International Auto Show 2019: VEVA La 'Lectric
Vancouver BC, March 19 2019 - The Vancouver Electric Auto Association first plugged into the local hobby scene over 30 years ago, when the sport of folks replacing gasoline engines with electric motors began to grow in popularity. The initial impetus to form an association was to adopt a 1912 Detroit Electric with a known BC history since new.
Bruce Stout - a Director of VEVA was decked out in top hat for the opening day of the Vancouver International Auto Show. He imparted a spirited conversation about the market, the show and his organization with supposed host Fred Keating.

What was once a hobby is now serious business. VEVA has changed with the program and Bruce offers words on how and why:
"Our association changed from people that would buy an older gasoline powered car, would remove the gasoline engine from that car - put in an electric motor and use lead-acid batteries.
We don't do that any more, and one of the reasons we've quit doing that now is because it doesn't make any sense to do that. Because, at the end of the day what you've got is a hobby; you don't have an appliance.
So now with all the manufactures spending billions of dollars to make appliances, this is where it's at right now. Seeing the fact that THIS year is the year of the electric car, there's a wealth of opportunity for people to come down here and test drive electric cars."
We suspect that every year from now will be the year of the electric car. Come find out for sure at the 100 Annual Vancouver International Auto Show next year.
